"I was moved by your story and your writing is so amazing that it paints a vivid picture. Masterfully done! You are an inspiration!"
"Thank you for telling your story. Ive never experienced DV, but the part where you said 'leaving is just the beginning of a new part' really hit home for me."
"You presented a perspective that I have never thought of before. I appreciate your vulnerability and willingness to meet people where they are."
"Katie offered many 'ta-da' moments for me and other advocates and law enforcement in the room."
"The impact vs intent conversation... was very helpful. It was a great example of how even when we mean to do well, it can be harmful when we assume."
"(It was useful) how Katie made it specific to our program."
"Talking about the background of different kids and how they deal with their emotions (was useful). The scenarios were helpful!"
“Katie advised us on how to remind the district of our rights as parents of a victimized student, and how to advocate for our child.
In present times, we would say having a family advocate is a must. As a parent, in the heat of all the emotions of a situation, it is sometimes hard to visualize what’s best for the child(ren). Katie helped us keep the focus on our child and advocate for what he needed.”
